Tequila Sunrise – How to Mix
The most distinctive thing about Tequila Sunrise cocktail is its sunrise effect and great taste.
The sunrise effect can be easily achieved by first creating three layers of different ingredients in it.
To prepare Tequila Sunrise the right way, we use different ingredients in an order based on their density so they do not mix unevenly without giving the desired result.
To make Tequila Sunrise Cocktail,
First, take a highball glass and add Grenadine to it. Now fill the glass with lots of ice and add Tequila to it.
You need regular ice cubes as you use in for any other cocktail drink.
Now slowly add Orange juice to fill rest of the glass. And that is all what you need to get the cocktail ready.
However, not everything is done.
Though technically we have made the Tequila Sunrise Cocktail by adding the ingredients the sunrise effect for which it is known for is still missing.
So let’s get on to with it.
Tequila Sunrise – Adding the Sunrise Effect
The sunrise effect needs to be added just before serving the cocktail.
To bring the sunrise effect, take a Muddling spoon and gently stir the Grenadine settled at the bottom of the glass.
A little stir will allow the Grenadine to rise up and mix well with Tequila to make it lighter in colour and give the desired effect.
Your cocktail can now officially be called the Tequila Sunrise cocktail.
However, remember not to stir it too much or too fast else it will just make the whole cocktail Pinkish or light red in colour and spoil the whole sunrise effect.
But just one more little thing to do before serving the cocktail. Just, add an orange wedge on top and you are ready to go.
People often decorate the drink with other garnishing such as zest, twist and even cocktail cherries but this is more often based on your personal preference and how you want to decorate it.
Recommendation
- It is better to use freshly squeezed Orange juice to get the best flavour.
- It is best to add Grenadine first so it does not leave red streaks in the whole drink.
- While stirring you may see the sunrise effect a bit late so be gentle while stirring. It is not difficult and within a couple of preparations you will be easily able to get a good sunrise effect.
